Government Business Grants

The Prime Minister announced on 31 October 2020, new national restrictions will apply in England from 5 November until 2 December. In response to these new national restrictions, funding will be given to Councils to support local businesses. 

Further information on each of the schemes can be found on the Guidance and Support for Business page of the Bexley Council website.  This provides links to government guidance on the grants including information on eligibility. Once application forms for the grants ‘go live’ these will be also available here.

Local Restrictions Support Grant Scheme

The Local restrictions support grant scheme for Businesses forced to close due to the national lockdown is now open to applications.

Only businesses forced to close will be eligible. Eligible businesses with a rateable value of:

  • £15,000 or under can claim £1,334

  • £15,001 to £50,999 can claim £2,000

  • £51,000 + can claim £3,000 


This will be paid as one-off grants to cover a 28-day period from 5 November to 2 December 2020.


To qualify for this grant, your business must be in the London Borough of Bexley and have been:


  • trading as usual prior to the date the restrictions came into force

  • occupies property on which it pays business rates

  • required to close for at least 4 weeks because of lockdown restrictions
